My best memory of WCS was when Kenny "The Mouse" Jacobs rented WCS for a benefit race for his good freind Brad Doty who was seriously injured in a sprint at Eldora. The night of thr benefit race was on a Wednesday night and the pits and grandstand was just packed. They also had an auction with memorabilia donated by the drivers, car owners, and some from the racing community. There was so much racing stuff to auction that it took forever, it was great. Can't remember the track owner, but when "The Mouse" went to thank all the drivers, owners, and fans for there support over the PA system the track owner announced that the track donated the cost to rent the track to Brad Doty. That was my greatest memory.

The night the "original" Black Bandit, Steve Smith (Stevie's dad) started tail, worked way to front only to spin out and go to the tail, then worked way to front again and then had flat tire and started tail for the third time AND came back and won the feature. It was an amazing race.
I was also there the night that Jack Norris was killed. I was 9 years old and my dad was one of the pit stewards and was one of the first to reach the car after it stopped flipping. |

The first dirt track race I went to was at WCS in 1977 my girlfreind's father took us up and that ended up being our date every Saturday night. We ended up getting married and having a couple kids and brought them to the track at a very early age. My son was 6 months old when he went to his first race at WCS. Now my son is 24 years old and is planing on racing at WCS part-time this year in the pure-stock division. After over 30 of dirt track racing we still love it! To think back over the years and all the driver we have seen it is to hard to pick just one memory when there has been so many!
