Jill Georges helmet was strapped down tight because her crew put it on for her but the helmet wasnt strapped to her HANS device because they didnt check that. Via her ******** page she said this is one time she is glad her helmet did come off because she said she would have probably been paralyzed from the hit with it being tied down to her HANS device. The impact of her hitting the wall head on was the reason why hers came off.

Thats actually a good question. If it fits correctly and is strapped on correctly i dont see how it can come off. I would say there helmets didnt fit correctly and/or didnt have it strapped tight

I agree. Correctly is the key word.

That said, Jilll George's crash was the most violent impact I've ever personally seen at a dirt track, and next to Jack Bland's well documented Hagerstown wreck (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ4_J...1&feature=fvwp) was one of the few times you'll probably ever see a car hit the wall at such a steep angle under full throttle.

with jills you have to look at the force of her hitting the wall also even with a perfect fitting helmet strapped on securely it can still find a way off your head. A little off the topic but when I played football I had a secure fitting helmet and strapped up securely but hit someone at full force completely ripped my helmet off my head. I dont know much about the other driver on why his helmet came off. I was there at Tyler for the Jill George incident and was talking to her crew later that night about it. The HANS device statement came via her ******** page.

The helmet still should not be able to come off. Look at all the wrecks in Nascar, Indy, WoO. They hit hard and ive not heard of a helmet coming off. I hit the wall full speed at the end of the straight away last at the valley my helmet didnt come off. As far as the football helmet goes once you start sweating the pads in those helmets get slick and slide which would make it easy for one to come off that wasnt exactly fitted right.
