I agree with you guys. The last thing we need in the Ohio Valley is another short track. It's about the only track of its kind around here, and people *****ed because it was too big. Now people are *****ing because it's not even open. Guess that goes to show you can't please everyone. I look forward to hearing more information as time goes on.

i like the big track down there also made for some good racing and a change of pace from the normal short tracks. That would be a good track for the World of Outlaw sprints or other sprint car associations to visit on their circuit but not so much now with it being shortened.

I liked the big track too, and you know people would go back to that place based on the facilities and history alone. When the track was prepped right, there was a lot of good racing there, and man those late models would fly around that track. Didn't Shaver set a new track record there in 2010? I heard he didn't let up the whole way around the track.

That's impressive, not only for the times they were turning out, but the number of cars as well. Some of the bigger races now don't even see that many cars! And if I do remember correctly, it was called the "5/8 mile speedplant" for a reason, not the "Ohio Valley's generic short track."

that short track idea will take away revenue from the local tracks down there now especially if they want to run a weekly show. The 5/8 even though hard on the locals but still always have great turn outs for events. the track should stay the same and let the big boys runs a few races along with hosting other races off and on throughout a race season. i like to see sprints run a series down there along with bringing in bigger name sprint driver and series.

That would be sick to see the WoO Sprints run on the 5/8 mile track. And I agree, you're just splitting your demographic by opening another short track only a few miles from I-77, Ohio Valley, etc. It's gonna hurt car count everywhere. I'd like to see them get the big track ready to race on, and have a few big events. If you open it, they will come.

When we raced there in 2010 we were turning low 17's during qualifying. In 2004 when the All Stars were there Chad Kemenah set a track record in the 16's.
It's the only track I've ever been to where you can hear the air going under the wing over the sound of the motor. You have to be careful of how you hold your head because the air going around the helmet can start blowing it around. |

I've heard the sprint car guys got after it when they were there. Hopefully we'll all see this again one day. Anyone have any word on the status for real?
