Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour
June 25, 2012 www.renegadesofdirt.com For Immediate Release: “The Badlands Bandit” Rick Aukland; takes back to back wins on the Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour (Middlebourne, WV) As race fans and competitors took to the Cannonball Speedway for the third leg of the 30th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek, it was also the sixth scheduled stop for the Eastern United States premier open wheel modified touring series. Over 35 All-Star Sprints signed in to do battle, and twenty-five of the Ohio-Valley's best modifieds took to the ½ mile for the evenings festivities. When the green flag dropped for 2Brothers Motorsports Quick Time Qualifying, “the Fargo Flash” Rick Aukland grabbed a convincing quick time and the $100 cash bonus award. Integra Shocks and Springs heat race action went Aukland, Elson, & Morehouse in some of the best racing of the evening. After a 30 Lap Sprint feature that saw flames, flips, and furious racing action the Renegades of Dirt took to the speedway for their 25 lap Arizona Sports Shirts A-Main. At the drop of the green Aukland jumped out to the early advantage with Elson following and Mark Dickson making a bonsai to the inside to take over the third spot on the opening lap. The entire field continued to run side by side all over the ½ mile as Aukland stretched out to a healthy lead at the midway point. Hard charging Bart Hartman began to flirt with the guardrail as he went three wide with fellow teammate Bobby Kitchen and the twenty eight of Kevin Morehouse. Hanover, OH's Kevin Morehouse then began his assault on the field, making it work along the bottom and cleared the 2Bros Motorsports Duo for the second position. Just as Aukland began to enter lap traffic a caution slowed the racing action for the five of Zanesville, OH's Jess Hartman. The field did the tighten up and once again stomped the loud pedal at the green with just two laps remaining. Aukland shot to the middle of the speedway in one and two and slowly drifted towards the wall. Morehouse looked underneath Aukland and grabbed the lead by a nose down the back straightaway, as they piloted into three and four Aukland made a stellar move to grab the lead back from “The Logger”. As they continued down the front straight to the white flag, Morehouse continued his high speed pursuit as he motored his way to the back bumper of Aukland. As the duo continued down the back straightaway for the final time and into corners three and four the driver also known as the “Badlands Bandit” Rick Aukland powered his Lightning Chassis number 2a into the Renegade of Dirt Victory Lane for the second time on the weekend and three out of the last four on the Modified Tour. The Zanesville, OH Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer continues to terrorize the ultra talented Renegades of Dirt Modified tour and this weekends double up now pushes his total tour winnings to over nine grand through the tours first five events. The tour will next see action at the Elkins Raceway in Kerens, WV as part of a highly anticipated three day weekend on the “Breaking Ground Tour” The Friday Night July 13 date will pay the winner $1500 to win and $150 to start as part of the 2nd Annual Richard Skidmore Memorial $7500 to win Super Late Model Invitational.
