Although there was a threat of rain all night long, it never come to be as McCown’s Jackson County Speedway roared to life with Mid-Season Championships. Jackson, Ohio Native Greggie Oliver picked up another win the AMRA Super Late Models, Derrick Smith won his first AMRA Modified feature, Bruce Gray Jr won in the Street Stocks, First timer Terry McGrath picked up a win in the Outlaw 4 feature, Gary Griffith came home the winner in the Mod Lites and Joel Richendollar picked up another win in the Mini Wedge division.

KC Burdette jumped out to the early lead in the late model feature with Greggie Oliver in tow. Burdette and Oliver would battle for several laps when Oliver would make his move on lap 5. With Oliver in the lead, it was now Tyler Carpenter’s turn to battle Burdette for position. That battle lasted one lap as Carpenter would get around Burdette on lap 7. Carpenter would catch Oliver and the two would have a great battle for the lead for several laps. On lap 14, lapped traffic would create some breathing room for Oliver as he would go on to win yet another AMRA Late Model feature win. Rounding out the field was Oliver, Carpenter, Burdette, Jeremy Misel, Mark Queen, Jack Martin III and Ronnie Whitt.

In the most exciting race of the evening the outside pole sitter Derrick Smith would get the jump on the field. Smith and Tyler Carpenter would do battle for the lead for all 20 laps of the feature. Several times Carpenter would jump out to the high side and the two would be side by side down the straights. Smith would withstand several late race cautions and late race battles and go on to win his first Modified feature event. Officially Gary Queen was your hard charger with an 11th to 6th performance, but it was Mark Bailey who wowed the crowd when he would cause a lap 6 caution and make his way to 4th position after restarting on the tail with a left front flat. Rounding out the field was Derrick Smith, Tyler Carpenter, Cliff Crank, Mark Bailey, Kevin Dulaney, Mark Queen, Brandon Oliver, Ryan McCarley, Bill Jenkins, Jacob Shafer and Dylan Shafer.

In the Street Stock feature, Bruce Gray Jr would jump out to the early lead with points leader John Powell Jr in tow. Powell and several time feature winner Jamey Adams would do battle for several laps before Adams would get around on lap 9. Adams would then set his sights on Gray Jr. Bruce Gray Jr had an easy race until Adams applied began to apply heavy pressure on lap 11. Gray Jr and Adams would be side by side several times over the last laps but it was Bruce Gray Jr who would cross the line in first. Dave Landman would earn hard charger award with an 8th to 5th performance. Rounding out the field Bruce Gray Jr, Jamey Adams, John Powell Jr, Jim Helterbran, Dave Landman, Steve Karr, Jeremy Hudnall, Deven Karr, Brandon Allen and Steve Nobile.

The Outlaw 4 feature saw first time Terry McGrath jump out to an early lead. McGrath was driving what looked to be a full blown super late model, but with only one difference, it had a 4 cylinder motor and a stout one at that. Randy Baker would give it everything he had the entire event to keep up with McGrath, but it was to no avail as McGrath would go on to pick up the feature win. Rounding out the field was Terry McGrath, Randy Baker, Todd Ervin, Zack Ackley, Charles Mullins, Adam Jones, Andy Cruse, Stevie Thornsberry, Josh Atwood and Jamie Baker.

The Mod Lite feature was the Gary Griffith show as Griffith would go unchallenged for the entire event and pick up yet another Mod Lite feature win. Rounding out the field behind Griffith was Peanut Helms, Jason Koenig and Brennan Bobst.

McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will be idle for Friday July 20th as the Jackson County Fair is ongoing but will return to action Friday July 27th with a full slate of AMRA Late Models, AMRA Modifieds, Mod Lites, Street Stocks, Outlaw 4Cyl, Mini Wedges and a 50 lap Enduro.
