Default New Columbus Track Approved by City Council

The next step is to get the building permit approved within the next 90 days and they will have all approvals necessary to begin construction on a 1/2 mile asphalt oval.

Should have bought Mansfield instead, great facility sitting still and wouldn't have to compete with Columbus Motor Speedway

no reason they can't work together ! years ago columbus drivers used to also run winchester, salem, queen city , IRP etc , so could be great for both tracks. I say give it time before getting negative. jmo

Default new columbus track

remember at one time it was, i believe, Kil-Kare on Fridays, Shady Bowl on Saturdays, and Columbus Motor on Sundays. no reason there couldn't be that kind of scheduling between tracks, whether it be asphalt or dirt. good for the tracks, the teams, the fans, all involved. only problem is everybody wants Saturdays, not many willing to do Fridays unless necessary, and nobody wants Sundays, 'cause there may be too many cars beat up by then. jmo.

I ran all 3 tracks in the 70's and columbus WAS on sundays and always had a full field of cars. Shady bowl bowl and kilkare had a little more trouble with car counts , but did ok . At that time the 3 tracks worked pretty much together , but once they started getting more independent all 3 went down hill.
