May 27 2012 - Harper, Singleton, Perigo, Burkholder, Spade and Settle Take Memorial Day Feature Wins
Harper, Singleton, Perigo & Burkholder Repeat Winners at Roaring Knob; Scott Spade Returns to Victory Lane After 10 Years; Settle Gets First of the Year. MARKLEYSBURG, PA (May 26, 2012) � Chuck Harper (Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Models), Rick Singleton (High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models), Denny Perigo (Modifieds) and Kyle Burkholder (Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers) all won their second features of the 2012 season. Scott Spade won his first A-Main since 2002 in the Krause Electric Street Stocks while Steve Settle scored his first of the season in the Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners. Bob Nelson won the May 5 make-up feature for the Krause Electric Street Stocks. The night got started with the 15-lap Krause Electric Street Stock make-up feature from May 5. Bob Nelson took the lead at the drop of the green and never relinquished it. Bob Neratka chased him the whole way and settled for second over Todd Dennis, Mike Duritsky and Scott Spade. Sixth through tenth were Jim Byers, Bob Miller, Marty Spade, Jr., Barry Faris and Ryan Newman. Bobby Cossell took the lead at the start of the 20-lap High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Model feature. Cossell held of Troy Shields until lap ten. Shields pitted under caution on lap 16 with a flat tire handing the lead over to Rick Singleton. Singleton, of Hesston, went on to win his second of the year. Louie Krushansky came from eighth to earn second followed by Ron Parrish, Dave Padula, Cossell, Darin Henderson, Billy Stile III, Andy Spooner, Vince Masi, Jr. and Jeff Compton. Heats were won by Singleton and Stile. Stoystown, PA’s Dennis Perigo made it two straight wins in the 15-lap Modified feature. Perigo Ford powered machine took the lead from Nick Cramer on lap ten and drove away for the win. Cramer, Tom Martineck, Denny Nakutis, Larry Atha, Bruce Dreistadt, Mike Errett and Matt Chenoweth. Cramer won the lone heat. The start of the 25-lap Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Model feature saw Ron Delano, Jr. storming into the led. Delano held Alex Ferree, making his first start, at bay while seventh starting Chuck Harper worked his way forward. Harper passed Ferree for second on lap 10 and two laps later used a high side pass in turns three and four to take the lead from Delano. Once out front Harper sped away for his second win this season. Ferree took second over Delano, Scott Rhodes, Billy Holbert, Cody Hardesty, Bob Gordon, Matt Cosner, Mason Zeigler and LC Powers. Harper and Hardesty were the heat winners. The best feature of the night belonged to the Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers. CJ Nicola led for ten of the 12 lap feature before Mill Run’s Kyle Burkholder, who started eighth, passed him to earn his second straight feature win. Burkholder, Nicola, JT Baird and Kenny Burkholder drove under a blanket, never touching, as the battle for the lead. Following Kyle was Kenny Burkholder, Baird, Nicola, Ed Vogel, Justin Howell, Ben Dennis, Bradley Nesline, Brad Jenkins and Shawn Smith. Kenny Burkholder and Shawn Smith won the two heats. Steve Settle, of West Leisenring, won his first of the year in the Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners. Settle took the lead at the drop of the green and never let up in the 12-lap feature event. Paul Koffler, Jr. was second ahead of Jarred Barclay, Mark Seiler, Cindy Rhodes, Todd Detrick, Ed Detrick and Jeremy Hill. Seiler was the heat winner. Jimmy Bendishaw, Jr. was looking for his first of 2012 in the Krause Electric Street Stock feature. Bendishaw started on the pole and quickly grabbed the lead at the drop of the green. Bendishaw had a comfortable lead when he suddenly slowed on lap 11. This handed the led over to Scott Spade, who had started tenth in his Ford Thunderbird. Jim Byers took up the chase but Spade wasn’t going to be denied winning his 12th career Street Stock feature, but first since 2002. Street Stock king pin Todd Dennis broke during the heats ending his night. Completing the top ten were Jim Byers, Marty Spade, Jr., Barry Faris, Charlie McClain, Bob Neratka, Kevin Collins, Jim Zufall, Eric Smith and Ron Howard. Winning the two qualifying heats were Jason Gibbs and Bendishaw. Coming up Saturday, June 2 is the Stinger Monster Truck Show. Also racing that night will be the High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models, Krause Electric Street Stocks, Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers and the Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners. In addition the FASTRAK Late Models will run their make-up feature from May 5. The Super Late Models and Modifeds will have the night off. Then on Monday, June 4 it will be the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek for the Super Late Models paying $5000 to win. High Gear Speed Shop FASTAK Late Models will also be on the card with a $1000 paycheck for the winner.
