Last Lap Pass Propels Aukland To Second Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour Victory & Rob House Memorial Win

(Middlebourne,WV) Race fans from all over the entire Mid-Ohio Valley poured into the 3/8 mile Muskingum Co. Speedway to witness some of the best pilots in the open wheel modified division once again converge to do battle with the widely popular Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour. Thirty four open wheel warriors signed in from 4 different states to do battle in honor of Rob House and the House Family.

When the Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour hit the track for qualifying, Lance Elson of Wellsburg, WV blazed his way around the lightning fast facility setting the 2Bros. Motorsports Quick Time Award for the second time in back to back events and earning the $100 quick time cash bonus. 2Bros Motorsports Qualifying and the usual fan friendly invert set the order for the evening's four Integra Shock heat races. In one of the best modified heat races at the Muskingum Co. Speedway, Jess Hartman got the initial jump on the field but DJ Cline quickly began to real the hometown native in. Meanwhile, Nathan Loney, Lance Elson, Bart Hartman, & Deana Groves battled furious for the final three transfer spots. At the midway point fast qualifier Lance Elson began to set his sights and took the second spot from Hartman, meanwhile the rest of the field continued to duel side by side. Bart Hartman then battled door to door with youngster Nathan Loney lap after lap until the checkered waved with Hartman crossing the finish just inches ahead of Danville,OH's Nathan Loney to round out your transfer spots for the A-Main. In heat race #2 the “Outlaw” Jess Wisecarver led the field to the green with the streaking Aaron Scott along side, when the green dropped the black and orange 101 grabbed the lead and the rest of the field raced neck and neck for the transfer. Rookie of the Year contender, Vic Hottinger battled with Rick Mardis, Don Lewis, & Jeff Votaw for the final transfer spot as the four were back and forth for much of the event. When the checkered flag flew Wisecarver picked up the heat win and Hottinger picked up the final transfer spot for the 30 lap A-Main. Heat race #3 was paced by the 2a of 'rockin' Rick Aukland. Aukland quickly jumped to the lead and continued his furious pace driving his lightning chassis to the win followed by a stellar heat field of Kitchen, Wilson, and New York's Randy Hall rounding out the final transfer into the Rob House Memorial. Local favorite Rex Slaughter in the sharp looking 1x grabbed the heat race #4 lead and never relinquished the lead. He was followed by Anthony Kinkade making his 2012 debut with a Rick Aukland borrowed engine under the hood, Travis Dickson out of Gallipolis, OH and a PPMS Super Late regular Kari Gasser in the black and pink #0k rounded out the final heat race transfer.

A brief intermission let track crews lay down some moisture on the speedway for the remainder of the racing program. Meanwhile drivers in the pit area who were set to run a B-Main were left sweating bullets as only the winner transferred from two nine car last chance qualifiers. In a thrilling but near full moon like B-Main #1 Muskingum Co. regular Don Lewis grabbed the point and separated himself from the field for the first 10 laps of the 15 lap consolation event all the while smoke intensified under the hood of the 77L, on lap 11 Lewis went up in smoke as the caution flew giving the 10 of Nathan Loney the race lead. Loney lead the field back to the green flag and began to also put a few car lengths between him and the rest of the field, hard charging Jeff Votaw worked his way around the field and began to try and chase down your race leader from his runner-up position with just 2 laps to go. On lap 13 Loney slowed coming out of four bringing out a caution and fell victim to the same woes of early race leader Lewis. Votaw then grabbed the pole and battled a challenge from Deana Groves to take the 17thspot in the A-Main and picking up the LCQ win. In last chance qualifier #2 Olean NY's “Dub V” Vic Vena grabbed the early race lead from his outside pole position and turned back challenges from the angry pack behind him looking for the final 18th transfer spot in the 2012 Rob House Memorial. Mark Dickson grabbed the Fast Qualifier to not make the show provisional and Deana Groves took the Renegade of Dirt High Point Provisional to solidify your 21car field for the $2000 to win 30 Lap Rob House Memorial. (Spot 21was Track High Point Option Provisional)

As the Renegades of Dirt got set on the speedway for the 30 lap A-Main the fans waved and cheered the talent laden field of 21 around to the green. A stellar field led by DJ Cline and Rex Slaughter took the green flag. Slaughter grabbed the early lead and continued to set a rocket like pace around the speedway. Cline continued to work to the inside of your race leader and multiple Musky feature winner Aaron Scott worked the high side of the speedway to near perfection cracking the top 5 and working on the top 3. The side by side battles were all over the speedway and was then slowed by a caution for the 20x of Darrell Mayer. Slaughter led them back to the green and began to distance himself once again from the field, meanwhile Bart Hartman and Deana Groves began their march forward through the field. Through turns three and four the 16 of Dickson and the 17 of Wilson got together bringing out the second caution of the event. When they went back to green the field continued to run neck and neck all the way back, Slaughter maintained his lead but was continuously pressured by the 4 of Cline. Current points leader and second place 2Bros teammates Kitchen and Hartman continued their march towards the front, Kitchen grabbing the second spot and Hartman worked his way to the heels of the top 5 as a caution came out for a slowing Mark Dickson. On the restart, Zanesville, OH's Rick Aukland began to make his move, the 2A machine worked his way past Kitchen for the runner up spot and began to put pressure on the leader. A side by side battle ensued as the two began to enter into lap traffic for the first time during the 30 lapper. With just a few laps remaining Aukland made his move to the inside around Slaughter and the lapped car of Votaw, however a sigh of enthusiasm came over the crowd as a slowing Randy Hall forced officials to throw the final yellow on the event setting up a 2 lap shootout with Slaughter regaining his lead and pushing Aukland back in the second spot. As the green waved Slaughter nailed a steady start and lead the field into the first turn, Aukland quickly pulled along side down the back stretch and the two battled to the white flag. Back into turn one and two for the final time the duo continued to trade paint for the 2K payday. Down the back stretch and through three and four the entire field ran door to door, Aukland grabbed the checkered board by just over a half car length forcing laps 1-29 leader to the second position with Kitchen, Hartman, and Cline rounding out your top 5. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer climbed out of the race car in Victory Lane to a overjoyed hometown crowd, and laid claim to his second Renegade of Dirt feature win. “I saved tires in the early going, I wasn't sure it was working. They weren't building up enough heat so I just decided I'm going to run it in hard and hopefully they work, and man the car stuck and they came to life” -stated Aukland in Renegade of Dirt Victory Lane. The Zanesville, OH native becomes the first repeat feature winner on the Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour and picked up the $2000 to win Rob House Memorial for his efforts. The tour now heads to Cannonball Speedway on June 24th as the under card to the Ohio All-Star Sprint“OH Sprint Speedweek”. The Sunday night show will pay $2000 to the winner and will cap the two race weekend in the Buckeye State for the ultra-talented Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour.
