Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour
July 22, 2012 www.renegadesofdirt.com For Immediate Release: Deana Groves Makes History, Wins 8th Annual Dickson Classic! (Middlebourne, WV) Last night Morgantown, WV's Deana Groves wrote her own page in the Renegade of Dirt record book's as she became the first female to win on the tour, first to win a modified race at Tyler County and the first female to claim the Dickson Classic. The 25 year old competitor on the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour and fan favorite began the day with her favorite meal, which I'm sure will now become a ritual for the Groves family on the Renegade Tour. She grabbed the pole for the first heat race event of the evening and never looked back in it leading all 10 laps and setting herself up for the front row in the A-Main. While in the A-Main the “First Lady of Modified Racing” stormed out of the gate and quickly set a furious pace for the rest of the field. The driver aka “Deano” by friends and family led throughout the entire event and was only challenged late in the race by her childhood friend Jake Hawkins in the #15 Throw N' Dirt house car. As she piloted the GRS2 Outlaw by Shaw through corners three and four to the checkered flag the impressed Tyler County crowd rose to their feet as Groves laid claim to the biggest victory of her young racing career and added her name to the prestigious Dickson Classic winners list. As the Groves Family owned number GRS2 sponsored by Melvin's Automatic Transmission, Tri-Valley Equipment, Terry and MaryAnn Wright, Jack's Recycling, American Racer Tires, Howell's Collision, High Gear Speed Shop, Slavic Corp, Frankland, Advanced Auto Parts, Shell Shock, Viking Performance, Rob's Fitness Factory, Amsoil, RAD, 2Bros. Motorsports and Car Brite mount passed post-race tech and rolled back on to the front stretch for an interview the entire crowd greeted her with a standing ovation. “The car was great all night, I heard a motor coming up on the outside of me just before the final caution came out, and under caution saw it was Jake, so I was a little nervous on the restart but we held on.” exclaimed an excited Groves. “To win on the Renegade Tour racing against such great competition it's definitely the biggest win of my career and I couldn't be happier!” “Especially winning the Dickson Classic, I've always been really close to the Dickson Family and it really means a lot to me to win this race” stated Groves. Groves was followed across the line by Hawkins, Kitchen, Bart Hartman, and Jess Hartman. “Bullring” fans were also treated to an impressive race long charge by the “reaper” Bart Hartman who dug his way along the bottom of the ¼ mile facility charging from a race best 19th to 4th. The preliminary heat races were won by Deana Groves, Lance Elson, & Jacob Hawkins. Fast Qualifier was Bart Hartman out of Zanesville, OH.
